About Courtney Fincher

Hi, I’m Courtney. I’m so glad you found your way here.

I spend my days supporting curious humans to feel more safe and seen — for being exactly who they are.

More specifically, I create encouraging spaces for people who have the sense that they need to address something in order to fully (and freely) show up in their day-to-day lives as themselves.

Sometimes it’s not clear yet what that something is. That’s normal and perfect. The secret is… you don’t need to have it all figured out to start getting closer to where you’d like to be. All you need is a sincere desire to get there, and a willingness to be self-reflective.

I work with clients one-on-one through Somatic Attachment Sessions, where we discover together when you have and have not felt safe, so that we can refresh your relationship with yourself (and your loved ones), and unpeel the layers to reveal a more free and present version of who you already are.

If you’re not waking up most mornings feeling at home with yourself, let’s find out why — and get you there with a gentle curiosity.

A little about me:

  • The way our minds and bodies are affected by our life experiences has always fascinated me: I graduated from college with a BA in Psychology, and later returned for many semesters of coursework in education and child development.

  • I worked in early education classrooms for 15 years and became an administrator in a progressive Integral school that values social/emotional learning, conflict resolution, and the evolution of consciousness. In that time, my focus and passion evolved into parent and educator training.

  • Leading up to my current practice, I completed a three-year Somatic Experiencing program to become a SEP (a trauma-informed program focusing on the nervous system). I am a regular assistant in the trainings.

  • I am certified in Diane Poole Heller’s DARe Attachment Training (Dynamic Attachment Repatterning Experience). I am a regular assistant in these trainings.

  • Somatic attachment work found me the way I’ve seen it find so many of my peers — from a long history of studying and doing my own healing work. I have direct experience with healing my own early attachment wounds and releasing trauma from my nervous system from times of overwhelm.

  • I’m told I’m deeply nerdy about the nervous system and neurobiology. I’ve studied in person with renowned educators, scientists, and thought leaders, including Dr. Dan Siegal, and Dr. Peter Levine.

  • Speaking of which, my shelves are literally overflowing with books on psychology, human development, neurobiology, attachment, mindfulness, and body-based healing modalities… all that good self-reflection stuff that I infuse my sessions with. Which is why I started a newsletter, where I channel the endless book recommendations I have at-the-ready for when friends ask what they should read next.

  • In addition to one-on-one sessions, I also facilitate Circle of Security groups annually (8-week parenting groups on how to create secure attachment).

But the most important thing is this:

I believe feeling safe and seen — as 100% yourself — is within reach for you.
